he Jakarta High Court has reduced the prison term for former Democratic Party chairman Anas Urbaningrum to seven years, following his appeal.
'The verdict is in, we have cut the jail term from eight to seven years,' spokesman for Jakarta High Court M. Hatta said as quoted by kompas, com.
The Jakarta Corruption Court had sentenced Anas to eight years in prison in September last year, for his role in the Hambalang sports-complex graft case.
The court accepted prosecutors' claims that Anas had used the bribe money from the Hambalang project and other government projects to fund his campaign to become the Democratic Party chairman in 2010.
It was former Democratic Party treasurer and graft convict Muhammad Nazaruddin who first alleged that Anas had accepted bribes from PT Adikarya, a state-owned contractor involved in the graft-ridden sports-complex project.
