he city administration will comply with the Transportation Ministry's regulations to operate the five double-decker buses donated by the Tahir Foundation.
'[The bus manufacturer] will comply with the requirements specified in the regulations. They must guarantee the buses' safety,' the governor's assistant on industry, trade and transportation, Sutanto Soehodho, said over the phone after a meeting at the ministry office in Central Jakarta on Friday.
Last week, the ministry announced that the specifications of the five double-decker buses were not in accordance with Government Regulation No. 55/2012 on vehicles. The buses were manufactured by Kudus-based PT Karoseri Nusantara Gemilang using a Mercedes-Benz chassis.
The donated buses have a gross vehicle weight, or maximum vehicle operating weight, of 18 tons, while the regulation requirements were 21-24 tons.
