arut Regent Rudy Gunawan says that the regional administration plans to develop a new tourism zone based on the natural beauty of the Mount Papandayan area in West Java in order to lure more visitors to Garut.
Rudy said that the new tourist attraction was a collaboration among his administration, the Natural Resource Conservation Agency (BKSDA) and state-owned forestry firm PT Perhutani.
'Papandayan has already become a tourist icon of Garut. By collaborating with investors we are hoping to better develop Garut as a tourist destination that is famous for its natural beauty,' he said as quoted by kompas.com on Saturday.
He said that the number of people visiting Papandayan continued to increase every year especially after the local government upgraded the road infrastructure leading to the mountain area last year. (nfo)
