RI, Pakistan to boost bilateral trade

Indonesia aims to boost its trade with Pakistan in the future as both countries continue to enjoy the benefits of such activity.

Indonesia recorded a US$1.8 billion surplus in its bilateral non oil and gas trade with Pakistan during the January to November 2014 period.

The Trade Ministry'€™s national export development director general, Nus Nuzulia Ishak, said she was optimistic the trade between Jakarta and Islamabad would continue growing.

'€œThis collaboration will create more opportunities for our trade and investment activities in Pakistan,'€ Nus said in at her office in Jakarta on Tuesday, as quoted by kontan.co.id, after a meeting with Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) senior vice president Ibrahim Kusumbi who is also the Petrogulf Polymer DMCC CEO.

As well as the KCCI, she said the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) had also expressed its interest in working with Indonesia.

In addition, she said that the Karachi delegations invited Indonesia to join their '€œMy Karachi-Oasis of Harmony'€ exhibition which would run from Apr. 10 to 12 this year. (nfo)(+++)
