ndonesian youths, including several ex-prisoners, are participating in a video campaign protesting the death sentence to support Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan, two Australian drug smugglers on death row.
'The Constitution protects the right to life for everyone in any condition. Drugs no. Death sentence no. Mercy please,' they say in the video shot at Straw Nut Cafe in Petitenget, Badung regency, Bali, on Wednesday afternoon.
'Education without drugs and without the death sentence,' they add.
The group has asked President Joko Widodo to visit Kerobokan prison himself to witness the many rehabilitation programs initiated by both Australians drug convicts.
The video is to be uploaded to the Internet and spread via social media. It has been organized by the volunteer group Youths Against the Death Penalty.
'I cannot imagine what it would be like,' volunteer Petrus Bulu, who participated in the video shoot, said when asked his feelings if he were facing the death sentence like Sukumaran and Chan.
Amy, the young Australian film director of the video campaign, said it was done to support the two Bali Nine members and she hoped the President would see it and grant them mercy. (***)
