ational Development Planning Minister Andrinof Chaniago said that the government has earmarked Rp 149 billion (US$124,000) for programs billed part of a 'mental revolution' campaign.
Andrinof said that the program, which was inspired by President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo's presidential campaign slogan, would be aimed at improving people's behavior.
'Mental revolution is about changing the behavior of people and this campaign will be about changing behavior,' Andrinof said as quoted by kompas.com.
He said that one of the programs in the campaign involved deploying religious preachers to deliver sermons.
He said the funds would be disbursed through the Office of the Coordinating Human Development and Culture Minister, which is led by Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) politician Puan Maharani, daughter of PDI-P chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri.
The funds would then be distributed to relevant ministries including the Social Affairs Ministry, the Religious Affairs Ministry and the Culture and Elementary and Secondary Education Ministry.
