The provinces of North Sumatra, Aceh and Riau will likely face temporary blackouts due to a lack of power following the collapse of three high-voltage transmission towers from Pangkalansusu power plant in Tangungparis subdistrict, Langkat, North Sumatra, on Feb. 17.

I do not understand why monopolies, especially PLN's, still exist. There must be big bucks in high places to continue like this.
PLN kills people when the lack of power means using Formalin in place of refrigeration for meat and seafood. Formalin accumulates in the body and causes irreversible harm that ultimately kills the host.
If any area or province lacks power, private (or even public) companies should be allowed to fill the gap.
For example, Pertamina should be allowed to turn their oil and gas into power and sell it directly to consumers.
