The Indonesia Fashion Week (IFW) officially launched its fourth edition on Thursday, presenting 32 fashion and trade shows from 747 brands at the Jakarta Convention Center.

As the party entered its second day on Friday, Muslim wear dominated the catwalks on two stages, with designer Tuty Adib using batik to craft her fashions.

For Surakarta-based Tuty'€™s latest collection, '€œKinasih'€, she combined batik and Javanese striped lurik fabrics with hints of shocking pink to brighten veils, blazers, sarongs, dresses and long skirts.

Another Muslim wear designer, Nieta Handayani, presented her '€œLune de Feu'€ collection, highlighting the traditional ulos woven textiles of the Batak people of North Sumatra.

Nieta crafted vests and outerwear made from ulos paired with long Muslim dresses made from shiny materials.

Local and international designers shared the runway to present their latest collections.

Ardistia New York showcased pieces from her pre-Spring 2015 collection on Thursday that revealed many lines and curves in the cuts.

'€œThe outfits feature many asymmetrical and geometric elements that are combined with more natural touch,'€ Ardistia said at a press conference.

Pastels and separates made of lightweight fabrics were given emphasis, making them ideal for younger women executives at work or for informal occasions.

A green pastel blazer with pale brown top and skirt, paired light brown top and off-white blazer and a peach dress worn with a long brown coat all produced stylish, semi-formal looks.

Showcasing a unique approach, Ardistia used a transparent asymmetrical skirt outside white short pants, while a loose top with sleeve cutouts and a round-neck cropped top with white capri pants completed a set of refreshing and relaxing outfits.

Ahmad Sofiyullah, designer for the Sofie line, explored geometry in his black collection, with some shades of grey, blue, purple and red used to strengthen his bold designs.

Boxy tops and dresses with squares, triangles, and checkered offered a complex nuance to compliment the simple silhouettes of the outfits.

Meanwhile, Bai Sumarlono for Populo Batik, presented his signature classic Javanese batik patterns in the '€œMorphosys'€ collection, which featured three emphases: A non-geometric Javanese pattern with Mega Mendung, Wadasan and Grinsing wave motifs; three blocked batik patterns mixed with different materials to create contemporary layered looks, and matching batik with linen and wool for a futuristic baggy look.

South Korean Hong Hye Jin joined the list of international designers presenting on Thursday, bringing a signature flare to the runway with outfits inspired by the land and sea.

Loose printed blouses, layered skirts, bomber jackets for men and women and pleated skirts and dresses were the highlights of her collection.

The PAGEANT brand by Australian design duo Amanda Cumming and Kate Reynolds were also on hand, presenting 20 sporty looks from their Autumn/Winter 2014 collection, '€œFiber Optic'€ with sporty puffy scarves worn in several different styles to keep the body warm during exercise in cold weather.

The IFW runs until Sunday at the Jakarta Convention Center at the Bung Karno Sports Complex in Senayan, South Jakarta. For information, visit indonesiafashionweek.com.
