tate Secretary Pratikno said the National Intelligence Agency (BIN) head Marciano Norman has informed President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo about an incident at the Indonesian consulate-general office (KJRI) in Sydney that occurred on Monday morning amid Jakarta's plan to execute convicts on death row, including two Australians.
Australian media outlets earlier reported that the local police were searching for a woman wearing light-colored pants outside the consulate on Monday night who was seen in the CCTV footage.
The woman is believed to have used balloons to splatter paint on the KJRI's footpath such that it resembled blood stains.
"However, it was a small incident. No need to give too much thought to it," Pratikno said on Tuesday at the State Palace, adding that the government does not yet to know the motive behind the incident.
Pratikno later said Jokowi was assured that such a small incident would not hamper the ties between Jakarta and Canberra.
"Relations between Indonesia and Australia must remain good," Pratikno said when asked about Jokowi's response after hearing about the incident from BIN.
"Relations between Indonesia and Australia are not only about government-to- government connections, but also business-to-business and people-to-people connections. There is already a strong foundation; don't let such a small incident disturb it."
In its press release, the Foreign Ministry confirmed the incident, saying that the local police inspected the scene of the incident and deployed officers at the entrance to the embassy, Antara news agency reported.
The consulate-general office also reminded all of its personnel to be cautious, but at the same time, to keep working on their daily tasks.
The office has also urged all Indonesian citizens in New South Wales, Brisbane and South Australia to be alert and cautious. (nfo)(+++)
