Comments on other issues: Ticket counters to be scrapped at two airports

Feb. 28, Online

Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, and Kualanamu International Airport in Medan, North Sumatra, will no longer directly sell tickets as all ticket counters will be turned into customer service counters operated by airlines as of Sunday.

Your comments:

To stop scalping, we close the ticket offices. In Bali, because nobody pays attention to red traffic light, most traffic lights are set to blinking orange from around 9 p.m. Wouldn'€™t it be better to just make people follow the rules? This applies to airports too.

Porki

I'€™ve never bought a ticket at the airport, but you people should call the airlines or travel agents and
buy tickets in advance with them, for sure they accept cash!

Stop panicking.

My sister will arrive at Jakarta'€™s international airport next week, from there I was hoping she would be able to buy a ticket and continue onto Malang to visit me.

I don'€™t think she has a credit card because she just graduated so she will not be able to use the ticket machines. What are the options for such people? I am certain that every day there are many people in the same situation.

Jakfan

Huh? How does this improve services and in what instance would someone want to buy a ticket at the last minute? The logic escapes me.

People can do it online, assuming you have a credit card or bank card, something tens of millions of Indonesians do not have, let alone the foreign tourists whose credit cards don'€™t work in Indonesia.
I agree with the above.

The government is stupid.

Dave Thompson

What if a flight is canceled and you need to buy a ticket from another airline? If this is about scalpers, why not enforce the law and stop them instead of causing problems for customers?

Testi

One wonders how shutting down legitimate counters reduces the potential of the black market. I guess it is something about airline ticketing staff colluding with the hawkers. But it'€™s still all really blurred and makes the ministry look really stupid without offering further explanations.

Kantisini

Shutting down the ticket offices means more of a market for the black market ticket sellers and more commission for the airport managers and police who allow them to run around selling tickets.

You can still buy tickets but you have to do it yourself online. Presumably the computers mentioned have printers so you can print your ticket.

But you can imagine it being chaotic when people who don'€™t have computers try to buy their tickets.
