I

t is disturbing that some Australians (a minority) are now attempting to describe the two Bali Nine drug traffickers as '€œvictims'€ of the Indonesian judicial process.

Both were common criminals '€” stand over merchants '€” and were handed the death sentence as the ringleaders of the Bali Nine.

We should respect the sovereignty of our nearest neighbor, which also means respect for its laws, even a law that imposes the death sentence for certain prescribed offences.

To do otherwise could be interpreted as just another form of neo-colonialism and unwarranted interference in the internal affairs of another country, both of which are totally unacceptable in the 21st century.
