South Jakarta Health Agency found that at least 343 people came down with the illness between January and March 12 in South Jakarta.
Based on the agency's data, Jagakarsa was the district with the greatest number of people who caught dengue out of 10 districts in South Jakarta with 57 cases, followed by Cilandak with 41 cases, Pasar Minggu with 37 and Pancoran, also 37.
The agency head Yudita Endah said Sunday there was a substantial decrease in the number of dengue patients compared to the same period last year.
'We had 343 people with dengue up until March 12, while there were 681 people in the same period last year,' Yudita said as quoted by beritajakarta.com.
Last week, Jakarta Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama had to rest for three days as he tested positive for dengue. Deputy Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat said Ahok were bitten in his private residence in Pluit, North Jakarta, and not at the City Hall, because his young son also came down with dengue.
