inkedIn, a business-oriented social networking site, is taking University of Indonesia (UI) as the first partner university in Indonesia to adopt the "add-to-profile" feature, spokesperson of UI Rifelly Dewi Astuti said on Friday.

"Add-to-profile can help UI communicate with university stakeholders that are predominately internet users," she pointed out as quoted by Antara news agency.

In addition to providing public access to information about UI, this feature will also help UI to open up access to students, lecturers and alumni.

Rifelly said UI is aware that today's society has transformed into a digital society.

The cooperation between LinkedIn and UI is in line with the Directorate of Career Development and Alumni Empowerment named tracer study UI.

Tracer study is a research project conducted on UI alumni, particularly focusing on the job search, employment and academic achievements, Rifelly explained.

Meanwhile, head of International Business Development of LinkedIn Tomasso noted that the site was interested in inviting UI as the first university in Indonesia to adopt this new program.

"We have also invited other universities around the world, so this proposed cooperation is an opportunity for UI to showcase its achievements to the international community," he remarked.

The "add-to-profile" feature will increase the likelihood of a university, by up to ten fold, connecting with professional headhunter companies as compared to those not using this feature, Antara said.

In addition, the feature can improve the visibility of the user's LinkedIn profile and help to add professional connections, both nationally and globally.

The "add-to-profile" feature has just been released on March 18, 2015, and has been adopted by 12 universities, including Arizona State University, Kaplan University, University of California and San Diego Villanova University.

The others are George Washington University, Full Sail University, UK's University of Manchester, UK's University of Cambridge, UK's Open University, Algonquin College, Keio University and the University of Melbourne. (hhr)(++++)
