Comedian Olga Syahputra passes away in Singapore

Comedian Olga Syahputra passes away in Singapore

oga Syahputra, more popularly known as Olga Syahputra, passed away Friday in Singapore after a battle with meningitis, Antara news agency reported on Friday.

The news was revealed by Olga's manager, Vera, during a phone conversation with Net TV station. It was also published on the TV stations's Twitter account, @netmediatama.

"We at NET TV offer our condolences for the passing of Olga Syahputra at 4:17 p.m. Jakarta time #RipOlgaSyahputra," the account read.

Born in Jakarta on Feb. 8, 1983, Olga had been hospitalized in Singapore for quite some time. In December 2014, a rumor spread that Olga had passed away. His family denied the rumor.

Olga was known as a presenter for the music variety show, Dahsyat, at RCTI together with Luna Maya and Raffi Ahmad.

He won several awards during his career, including Favorite Comedian at the Panasonic Gobel Awards (PGA) in 2009, 2010 and 2013; and PGA's Favoritr Music Variety Show Presenter in 2009, 2010 and 2011. (nvn)(++++)
