he Trade Ministry plans to withdraw a number of electronics products subject to mandatory Indonesian National Standards (SNI) from circulation next week due to their poor quality.
The items include batteries, self-ballasted lamps, batteries, irons, low-pressure gas regulators and plugs, Trade Ministry's director general for standards and consumer protection Widodo said Friday.
"We will pull these items out of circulation because the producers do not consistently maintain their quality according to the SNI," he said at his office.
SNI-compliant products are those that uphold consumer protection in terms of health, safety and environmental sustainability.
The government has so far required 106 products to meet the SNI, of which around 30 are electronics items. (nvn)(++++)
