OGOR: An alleged motorcycle thief was attacked in Gelewer, Karang Tengah, Babakanmadang district, Bogor regency, on Wednesday evening.
Babakanmadang Police chief Comr. Pahyuniati said late Thursday that the police were looking for confirmation on the suspect's identity. He has been unofficially identified only as SD, a resident of Sukamakmur in Bogor regency.
The incident occurred when Roni, 23, a Babakanmadang district resident, was stopped on his motorcycle in the area at 10:30 p.m. by three people riding one motorcycle.
'The suspects attempted to steal the victim's motorcycle, but he fought back and screamed for help,' Pahyuniati said.
Two suspects fled the scene on their motorcycle, while SD was left behind. A mob formed and SD was doused with gasoline and was almost set alight. The police arrived at the scene and helped SD and took him to Ciawi General Hospital.
'However, he also suffered severe stab wounds and eventually died,' Pahyuniati said.
