enpasar: After spending four nights in a cell at Kerobokan prison, the baby of American teenager Heather Lois Mack, herself accused of killing her mother, was rushed to hospital on Friday morning.
In the arms of her mother, the baby girl was taken by prison ambulance to the Wings Amerta international-standard facility of Sanglah General Hospital, where the baby was delivered last week.
After being checked by a pediatrician, the baby was allowed to return with her mother to prison. While in hospital, Mack's condition was also checked as she had a caesarian last week.
Mack refused to comment on her baby's condition. Her lawyer, Ni Kadek Sri Novi Wirani, said the baby was fine.
'The doctor said the baby needed more sunlight in the morning,' said Novi, who accompanied Mack to hospital.
Separately, prison doctor Anak Agung Gede Hartawan said the baby was taken to hospital because her skin was a yellowish color. 'It indicates that the baby lacks fluid. However, the baby didn't have a fever,' he said.
