n officer of the Gambir Police has been punished by his superiors, who tied him to a pole and left him under the scorching sun after he tried to evade arrest for allegedly using methamphetamine.
Gambir Police head Adj. Sr. Comr. Susatyo Purnomo Condro said on Monday that he had ordered his officers to tie up their colleague, identified as Chief Brig. SW, for one hour on Saturday as a punishment.
Susatyo said SW's urine test indicated he had used drugs. When his colleagues tried to arrest him, SW fled. He was arrested by force by Gambir Police officers at his house.
According to Susanto, it was the third time that SW had been caught using methamphetamine. He emphasized that there would be strict punishment. However, Susanto added that SW was not a drug dealer and was only a user and victim in this case.
'Like other drug users, he is a victim. Therefore, I want him to be rehabilitated,' Susanto told reporters.
