Greater Jakarta: Traffic cop denies making racial remark

C

hief Brig. Hariyanto of the West Jakarta Police Traffic Unit has been questioned by his supervisors at the Jakarta Police headquarters, after he was accused of racially abusing a man while on duty.

In a video uploaded by the Jakarta Police'€™s Traffic Management Center (TMC) on Sunday, Hariyanto told his superiors that he had not uttered any racial remark during a ticketing process on Wednesday.

A Chinese-Indonesian resident, Huandra Limanau, accused Hariyanto of calling him '€œCina'€ when Huandra refused to sign his ticket because he saw that the ticket did not contain complete information that might later give him problems in court.

Hariyanto said Huandra refused to be ticketed and accused Hariyanto of calling him '€œCina'€, which Hariyanto denied.

Last week, Huandra shared a video, several photographs of Hariyanto and his story on Facebook and YouTube.

On Monday, Jakarta Police officers called Huandra in for questioning relating to his accusation. Huandra said on Facebook that he would meet the summons and would bring the video of the incident as evidence.
