JCI rises 1.01% to 5,494 on Tuesday morning

The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) jumped 55.66 points or 1.01 percent to 5,494.52 in Tuesday'€™s first trading session.

Up to 161 stocks moved upward, 44 stocks downward while 63 others remained stagnant. During the opening session, 837 million shares were traded with a transaction value of Rp 1.05 trillion, according to kontan.co.id.

Meanwhile, the 45-most liquid stocks (LQ45) index strengthened by 2.51 points (0.27 percent) to 945.30.

Ten sectors were in the green, led by finance with a rise of 1.57%, followed by construction with 0.96% and manufacture 0.86%.

Several analysts predicted that the JCI would continue to strengthen, after closing up 0.77% on Monday to the level of 5,438.66.

David N. Sutyanto, an analyst with First Asia Capital, attributed the strengthening of the JCI to good financial reports by issuers in 2014.

In the international market, the JCI got support from rising oil prices, which rebounded due to conflict in the Middle East. (hhr)
