former executive of the now-defunct upstream oil and gas regulator BP Migas revealed on Monday at the Jakarta Corruption Court details about those whom he bribed to secure a multibillion dollar gas contract on Madura Island in East Java.
Director of PT Media Karya, Sentosa Antonius Bambang Djatmiko ' who stands accused of paying routine bribes to former Bangkalan regent Fuad Amin ' said in court that in addition to Fuad, his company had also paid bribes to officials from BP Migas and PT Pembangkit Jawa Bali (PJB), a subsidiary of state power operator PLN.
Antonius described the flow of money to former BP Migas operation manager Budi Indianto as a 'consultation fee', and that each consultation fee cost Rp 50 million (US$3,820), paid by Media Karya.
Others who allegedly received money from Media Karya include high-ranking PJB officials I Nyoman Nugraha Widi, Samiuddin and Bambang Hermianto.
Fuad received billions of rupiah from Media Karya for persuading BP Migas to allow the company to establish a consortium with Bangkalan-owned company PD Sumber Daya to buy gas from Pertamina EP, the upstream business unit of the state-owned oil and gas company, PT Pertamina.
According to the contract, Media Karya would sell gas to PJB. In exchange, PJB would distribute electricity to the Bangkalan administration.
Antonius said Media Karya regularly wired money to Fuad through a number of his confidants, ranging from Rp 50 million to Rp 700 million every month from 2009 until 2014. 'From January to December 2014 the payment rate was Rp 700 million per month,' Bambang said.
KPK prosecutors have indicted Antonius for paying Fuad a total of Rp 18 billion in bribes to secure the gas contract.
