Guess what?: '€˜Dangdut'€™ king Rhoma working on copyrights

Kapanlagi.com

Often seen in the political scene over the past few years, Rhoma Irama, the so-called king of dangdut, says that he is currently not in the mood for composing any new songs.

After he was named to lead National Collective Management Board for Creators and Copyrights by President Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo in February, Rhoma has been focusing on intellectual property.

'€œComposers these days are losing as soon as they make a new song,'€ Rhoma said, as quoted by tempo.co. '€œThat'€™s because their works will immediately be pirated.'€ '€œPiracy kills creativity,'€ said the 68-year-old, who has composed at least 1,000 songs since the 1970s, according to the Indonesian Royalty Award association.
