National scene: Luhut appoints five deputies

residential chief of staff Luhut Panjaitan reported to President Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo on Tuesday his appointment of five deputies to help him in the new Presidential Office.

'€œWe reported the complete list of staff members for the Presidential Office,'€ he said.

Among the staff members are five deputies that will assist Luhut on various issues. Darmawan Prasojo was appointed as deputy for monitoring and evaluation. He is known as an oil and gas expert and once ran for a lawmaker post.

A former staff member from the now-defunct Presidential Working Unit for Supervision and Management of Development (UKP4), Yanuar Nugroho, gets a new post as deputy for management of the government'€™s priority programs. He is a policy management expert.

Economist Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa was chosen as a deputy for management of strategic issues. He is known as a close friend of former coordinating economic minister Hatta Rajasa.

Eko Sulistyo, a former member of Jokowi'€™s presidential campaign team, is to be deputy for political communications and dissemination of information.

Brig. Gen. Andogo Wiradi, a former expert staff member at the National Resilience Institute, was appointed as a deputy for data analysis and strategic information.
