The local government, NGOs and plantation companies are working together to train elephants in Riau, to put a stop to the many cases of animal-human conflicts in the area.
Last week, wild elephants trampled a man to death in Tasik Serai subdistrict, Pinggir district, Bengkalis regency.

Your comments:

I think the government should immediately take action to place the wild elephants in the zoo. In addition to protecting people from elephant attacks, it will also preserve wildlife in Indonesia, especially elephants.

Protecting animals and trees is a society'€™s duty. Lately, so many oil palm plantations are the main reason behind these conflicts. The animals'€™ habitat in Riau is disturbed by businesses that are not responsible for the situations they cause. Humans should provide protection to the animals and should know the importance of keeping animals alive for future generations.

Elephants are protected by the state. If we care for and preserve their environment, all the problems between humans and elephants will reduce. No one will be a victim and the elephants will survive and breed in their natural habitat.

I agree with Environment and Forestry Minister Siti Nurbaya Bakar that the main cause behind elephants or tigers venturing out of their natural habitats is a lack of food.

The best solution is rearranging the ecosystem. The concession holders must pay more attention to improving the management of their respective ecosystems.
