resident Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo held a consultation with House leaders at the House of Representatives (DPR) building on Monday to discuss a number of current issues, including the status of the National Police chief candidate and the recruitment of new commissioners for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
'One of several issues that will be discussed during the consultation with House leadership will be the presidential letter [on the nomination of acting National Police chief Comr. Gen. Badrodin Haiti as new police chief],' kompas.com quoted Home Minister Tjahjo Kumolo as saying prior to the meeting
He added that during the meeting the President was accompanied by State Secretary Pratikno, Coordinating Economic Minister Sofyan Djalil and Coordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Tedjo Edhy Purdijatno.
Tjahjo said in addition to discussing the police chief issue, the President would also raise the issue of the revised draft of the state budget and the presidential decree on the allowance for the procurement of public officials' vehicles.
Coordinating Human Development and Culture Minister Puan Maharani rode in the RI 1 Presidential Car with the President to the DPR building. Vice President Jusuf Kalla did not attend the meeting.
Deputy House Speaker Fahri Hamzah said House leaders would question the fate of police chief candidate Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan, whose nomination was dropped despite the House's approval for his nomination. (rms)(++++)
