he Senen Police in Central Jakarta arrested a 54-year old Iranian identified as Hajinasiri Mohsen Aliasgharr in Tebet, South Jakarta, an officer said on Monday.
Hajinasiri was arrested on Jl. Prof. Dr. Satrio, Tebet, South Jakarta, as he delivered 519 grams of methamphetamine to an undercover police officer who was posing as a buyer.
The police received information on Hajinasiri from a public report and decided to follow it up, said Senen Police chief Comr. Kasmono on Monday as reported by kompas.com.
Kasmono said his officers also confiscated 955 grams of unspecified narcotics, 475 grams of meth, aluminum foil, plastic wraps, a press machine and scales in a hotel room in Tebet.
He added that the suspect arrived in Indonesia on March 11 and had bought meth from an Indonesian woman living in Karawaci, Tangerang, on March 14.
Hajinasiri, part of an international drug ring called the Nigerian network, confessed that he had worked as a courier for two months, Kasmono said. However, the police will investigate his role further.
Hajinasiri has violated Article 114 and Article 112 of Narcotics Law, which carry a death sentence.
