he family of Siti Zaenab, who was executed in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, is hoping that the body of the ill-fated migrant worker can be returned to her hometown in Martajasa, Bangkalan regency, Madura.
A family member, Halimah, said all of the family members wanted to see Siti Zaenab's face for the last time before she was laid to rest.
"We haven't met with Zaenab for years. If the government is kind enough to return her home, we want my sibling to be laid to rest here, in her hometown," said Siti's elder sister in tears, as quoted by Antara on Wednesday.
Siti was executed at 10 a.m. local time on Tuesday in Madina, Saudi Arabia.
The Indonesian government has conveyed its deep condolences to Siti's family. It has also conveyed its protest to the Saudi Arabian government for failing to notify either the Indonesian authorities or her family before the execution.
Siti, who was working as a domestic worker in Saudi Arabia, was sentenced to death for killing her female employer, Nourah binti Abdullah Duhem Al Maruba, in 1999. Representatives of the Foreign Ministry visited Siti's home in Bangkalan and confirmed her execution on Wednesday morning. (ebf)(++++)
