T

he immigration office at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten province, has designated special lanes to serve delegates and participants of the Asian-African Conference Commemoration (AACC).

Head of the airport's immigration office, Sutrisno, said that the lanes, located in terminals 2D and 2E, were being provided to accelerate immigration formalities for the conference'€™s participants, Antara news agency reported on Saturday.

At the airport's VIP and VVIP lounges, three immigration officers are manning passport checking machines around the clock.

He said that the two lanes had been in operation since Thursday and that all delegates would be escorted by officers to the special lanes.

'€œWe have already set up the locations and prepared the personnel on the field. There will be no disruption of services,'€ Sutrisno said.

The initiative was taken so as not to disrupt immigration services of ordinary passengers.

Meanwhile, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Police chief Sr. Comr. CH Patopoi said that 2,200 joint security personnel had been deployed to the airport to secure the conference'€™s delegates.

The AACC begins on Sunday and runs until Thursday in Jakarta, before concluding in Bandung the following day.

Representatives from 77 countries are reportedly taking part in the weeklong events. (dyl/nvn)(+++)
