Carrying out the execution of an Indonesian migrant worker in Saudi Arabia has been done in accordance with their national law and procedures. That is why Indonesia should not hesitate to immediately execute drug convicts sentenced to death based on our own national law.

Why shock? You still have 10 foreigners in line. Do to others what you would have them do to you.

It is utterly disgusting: both the execution of the Indonesian woman and posters on this thread who are using this as an opportunity to rub Indonesia's nose in it over their planned executions. You can't defend the life of one person and take joy in the death of another. I express my deepest condolences to Indonesia and still hope for a positive outcome for the 10 lives at stake in Indonesia. One thing is for certain, the death penalty creates more victims.

Indonesia cannot expect more for its citizens than it is willing to give foreigners facing executions.

Unfortunately, those who disagree with the death penalty didn't voice their concerns as loud as the occupants in our neighboring countries, like Australia or the Philippines. But we exist, just not as active in objecting.

Indonesia has the right to act according to its legal system and has an obligation to protect its citizens abroad. There is no contradiction whatsoever there.
Now, whether I personally agree or not that the death penalty should be a part of the current rule of law in Indonesia is a different question. I have enough arguments both for and against regarding the matter at the moment.
I understand that the international community is progressively moving toward abolishing the death penalty, with the latest call for a moratorium from the 2012 UN General Assembly Resolution 67/176.
My belief is that sooner or later, Indonesia will join the bandwagon as well, but again, before that time comes, as long as the death penalty is still recognized as a part of its legal system, Indonesia has the right and should be free to
perform it.
That is, unless a binding UN resolution is adopted.

The only way to stop the executions of Indonesians in Saudi Arabia is to stop sending migrant workers there.
I would like to stress that Arab is not synonymous with Islam and Islam is not synonymous with Arab.
