speech by President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo during the Asian-African Conference Commemoration (AACC) this morning was received with a choir of applause from leaders, including Chinese President Xi Jinping and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
Jokowi criticized the UN, World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), saying that the institutions had failed to deliver solutions for the global economy.
Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjajanto said that a special team consisting of experts was behind the flaring speech.
According to Andi, the team members included Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) international expert Rizal Sukma, Presidential Chief of Staff Luhut Panjaitan, Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi, political analyst Sukardi Rinakit and anticorruption activist Teten Masduki.
