Lion Air investigating flight JT303 incident

ow-cost carrier Lion Air is currently investigating an incident that occurred on its flight JT303 at Kuala Namu International Airport in Deli Serdang regency, North Sumatra, on Friday.

"The Boeing 737-900ER was involved in incident at about 1 p.m. when it started its engines and was standing by for pushback, suddenly a loud bang was heard from the aft of the aircraft," Lion Group head of corporate secretary Capt. Dwiyanto Ambarhidayat said in a media statement on Friday.

"Passengers panicked upon hearing the blast and they opened all emergency exits on the aircrraft and disembarked using slides."

Dwiyanto added that a number of passengers were injured in the incident and had received medical treatment.

"There were 214 people on board consisting of seven crew, 201 adults, three children and three infants," he said.

"We are still investigating the source of the noise and our current priority is ensuring passengers safety." (nvn)(+++)
