ouse of Representatives Speaker Setya Novanto has apologized for the behavior of two prominent legislators who were involved in a punch up earlier this month at a hearing with officials from the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry.
The deputy chairman of Commission VII overseeing energy and environment, Muljadi of the Democratic Party, and Commission VII member Mustofa Assegaf of the United Development Party (PPP), traded blows on April 11 during a hearing with ministry officials including Minister Sudirman Said.
'I apologize to the people of Indonesia for letting this incident happen during a house hearing. We ask all House members to maintain their dignity and modesty and engage in non-violent democracy,' Setya remarked during a House plenary session to close the third sitting session of the 2014-2015 legislative year on Friday.
Mustofa has since been reported to the police for his actions.(nvn)(+++)
