he Attorney General's Office (AGO) has said French death row convict Serge Atlaoui may face the firing squad alone if the State Administrative Court (PTUN) rejects a lawsuit against his execution.
Atlaoui was crossed off a list of death row inmates to be executed on Tuesday after he filed a lawsuit to challenge President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's refusal to grant him clemency on Thursday.
"We will wait for the results from the court. If the lawsuit is rejected then he will be executed alone," AGO spokesman Tony Spontana said on Monday.
Atlaoui's legal team filed the lawsuit with the PTUN shortly after his case review appeal was rejected last week.
The police busted Atlaoui when they raided a secret factory producing ecstasy in Tangerang, Banten, in 2005.
The French citizen was subsequently convicted in 2007 of possessing 138 kilograms of shabu-shabu (crystal methamphetamine), 290 kilograms of ketamine and 316 drums of precursor substances.
Atlaoui has repeatedly denied the charges, saying that he was installing industrial machinery in what he thought was an acrylics factory. (ebf)(++++)
