he Jakarta Police will deploy 14,404 security personnel to secure the observation of International Workers' Day that will fall on Friday.
Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Unggung Cahyono stated on Wednesday that the police and the Jakarta administration had met with the leaders of workers' organization.
The workers had pledged a peaceful May Day demonstration in Jakarta that would be free from vandalism and toll-road blockades, but Unggung said that the police need to anticipate any possible security breach during the celebration, Antara news agency reported.(+++)
