olice have declared the head of the Finance and Regional Asset Agency in the Sarmi regency as a graft suspect in connection with the embezzlement of social assistance funds in 2012 and 2013.

The suspect, identified as ST, has been detained in the detention house at the provincial police headquarters in Jayapura since April 30.

The Sarmi official was held as a suspect after the police'€™s detective division carried out a deeper investigation into the case over the past few weeks.

He said the police were still investigating a number of other officials allegedly involved in the case.

'€œThe police will summon a number of other officials who will be questioned as witnesses,'€ he said as quoted by Antara news agency on Wednesday. (rms) (+++)
