The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) has noted that Bali is the province with the highest working hours in the country, which shows the reality that Balinese workers are workaholic and productive.
Your comments:
For some reason, the BPS uses 35 hours as a threshold. This leads to people thinking 'what, only 35 hours?'
In reality, those who work 50 hours a week will be included in the 35+ hours category.
Working in a hotel, in Bali, it is not uncommon that the work week is 48 hours long. Hotel employees often have to come in on Sundays to help out with special projects (Balinese holidays etc.). The work week is easily more than 56 hours. No overtime, no extra bonus.
Yet commenters on The Jakarta Post online refer to the Balinese as a 'dishonest and lazy race'?
Think about it; or perhaps people who comment on online articles are unable to think.
Bali has the highest number of working hours in Indonesia. Does that really mean anything? Since when do long hours equate to high productivity? As usual, rubbish statistics published as fact.
