AKARTA: The Jakarta Education Agency has inaugurated hundreds of new school principals, who will be stationed in 229 elementary schools, four junior high schools and 26 senior high schools.
'The job transfer is part of the career enhancement program for principals,' Education Agency head Arie Budhiman said on Friday.
He said he expected principals in Jakarta to maintain their competency, integrity, moral values and sense of responsibility.
'The governor does not want irresponsible teachers to manage schools in the capital. There will be no more bribery in order to become a principal,' he added.
Arie said that Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama had assigned him to ensure clean management in all Jakarta schools. Any school officials caught engaging in corruption or wrongdoing will be sternly sanctioned, he said.
'Sanctions for 13 principals and teachers are currently being processed,' he said.
