ndonesian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania Syarief Syamsuri has revealed that food producer Indofood is building an Indomie instant noodle factory in Casablanca, Morocco, during his recent visit to an Indomie distribution office in Ain Johra Industrial Estate in Tiflet, Morocco.
The third secretary of the Indonesian Embassy in Rabat, Muhammad Hartyanto, said as quoted by Antara news agency on Sunday that the Indomie factory construction project had begun in January and it was expected that the factory could be in production at the end of third quarter of this year.
The factory would become the world's biggest Indomie factory outside Indonesia, he said.
According to official data, Indomie entered the Moroccan market five years ago through the establishment of Indo Morocco Company, a partnership between Sawaz Group and a local Moroccan company, namely LINA, belonging to entrepreneur Abdullah Ghozy. Sawaz Group is a joint company of Salim Group and Wazaran, a Saudi Arabian group.
Syarief visited the headquarters of Indo Morocco Company SA, as the Indomie distribution and marketing company in Morocco is led by two Indonesians, Mufli Zaumar (president director) and Ahmad Sidikki (finance and administration director).
Hartyanto said Syarief was exploring in more detail Indofood's plans to invest and build a factory in Morocco.
'The ambassador warmly welcomes the development of the Indomie factory in Morocco and has conveyed that the Indonesian Embassy is ready to help,' the secretary said. (ebf)(+++)
