ome celebrities might take side jobs as sex workers because of their luxury lifestyles and lack of professional work, says actress and singer Maia Estianty
'Maybe because of their high lifestyle and rare job opportunities. Or, they want to get rich quick,' tribunnews.com quoted her as saying on Tuesday.
Maia who expressed her deep concern over the arrest of a celebrity involved in online prostitution, said celebrities should promote not only their physical beauty but also their characters to set good examples to the public.
She said that with the police's investigation into the online prostitution ring, all those having side jobs as sex workers were expected to go back to their profession as entertainers, singers or actresses.
'The arrest of the pimp and the actress is expected to provide a good lesson for others to avoid working as sex workers and set a good example to society,' she said.
In a raid on a five-star hotel in South Jakarta on Saturday, the police arrested a pimp identified only as RA and a model identified only as AA for their involvement in an online prostitution ring. (rms) (++++)
