he regent of Sarmi in Papua, Mesak Manibor, was arrested on Thursday by the Attorney General's Office (AGO) for the alleged embezzlement of Rp 2.9 billion from the regent's official residence rehabilitation project from 2012 ' 2013.
Mesak was arrested after failing to answer a summons and resisting police arrest.
Papua Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Patrige Renwarin said the suspect was arrested at his official residence early on Thursday.
'The AGO team and police took the suspect to the provincial police's detention center,' he said.
