Vice President Jusuf Kalla celebrated his 73rd birthday at his daughter'€™s house in Golders Green, London, England.

He was in England to attend the Federation of Cocoa Commerce (FCC) conference starting on Friday, as well as to meet with Standard Chartered Bank officials and to attend other events.

Kalla'€™s relatives in London were reported to be present at the party, as well as a number of Indonesian public officials, such as South Sulawesi Governor Syahrul Yasin Limpo and West Sumatra Deputy Governor Muslim Kasim, as well as the Vice President'€™s friends from several countries.

The celebration began with a prayer led by Indonesia Islamic Centre imam M. Hamim Syaaf.

'€œI want to be healthy,'€ Kalla was quoted as saying by kompas.com on Friday.

The celebration was held without much ceremony. Guests were reported to feast on mostly Makassar food, such as coto Makassar (seasoned meat broth) and songkolo (glutinous rice dish).

Kalla was born in Watampone, South Sulawesi, on May 15, 1942. He was a businessman before he went into politics. He has four daughters and one son. (fsu)(++++)
