he police arrested a pimp identified as DS as he was soliciting customers to buy sex with an underage student in Mamuju, West Sulawesi, on Friday night.
Mamuju Police chief detective first Insp. Jamaluddin said on Saturday that the suspect was arrested when making a deal with an undercover police officer.
The police also arrested a customer identified as RC, who was later released after police questioning.
According to the police, DS admitted to setting a price of between Rp 1 million (US$76.9) and Rp 2 million for the girls.
Besides naming DS a suspect, the police also confiscated two cell phones as well as Rp 1 million in cash.
'The pimp was arrested when he was making a deal with a police officer posing as a customer. He [DS] was offering an underage sex worker, a student of a senior high school in Mamuju,' he said as quoted by kompas.com.
He said the suspect would be charged with violating the Human Trafficking Law and the Child Protection Law and could face a maximum 15-year prison sentence. (rms)
