Trekking activities at Central Java's Mount Merapi have been temporarily closed after a man fell into the crater on Saturday.
Eri Yunanto, 21, a student of Atmajaya University's technical industry school of in Yogyakarta, fell into the volcano's crater during photo shoot.
Subandriyo, the head of the Yogyakarta-based Geological Disaster Technology Research and Development Center (BPPTKG), said conditions on the peak of Mt. Merapi, which covered in sand and rock, was dangerous for climbers.
"Even though there is no volcanic activity at Mt. Merapi, we do not recommend that climbers attempt to reach the peak," he said. (hhr)
