The case dossiers of 63 Chinese arrested earlier this month in East Cilandak, South Jakarta, and Pantai Indah Kapuk, North Jakarta, were handed over to the directorate general of immigration after the police found that they had not caused any harm to Indonesians.
Jakarta Police criminal investigation director Sr. Comr. Heru Pranoto confirmed on Monday that the police had gotten all the information they needed.
'We have decided that the suspects violated the immigration documentation regulation, so they will be deported and their criminal cases will be examined by authorities in China,' he said.
According to the police investigation, the foreigners, some from Taiwan, had committed cybercrime from Indonesia to extort and deceive Chinese nationals and state officials in their home country.
The suspects are currently being detained at the directorate general of immigration while the immigration office coordinates with the relevant embassies on their deportations.
Heru went on to say that he could not confirm when the suspects would be deported.
'That's the immigration office's business,' he said.
