ormer Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputy chairman Bambang Widjojanto has withdrawn his pretrial petition filed with the South Jakarta District Court while he waits for the police to drop his case.
Lawyer Dadang Trisasongko said his client was waiting for the police to show goodwill and drop his case.
'The pretrial petition has been withdrawn for the time being to give the police time to drop the case,' kompas.com quoted Dadang as saying on Wednesday.
Bambang has been named a suspect for allegedly directing people, in his capacity as a lawyer, to give false testimony in the 2007 West Kotawaringin election dispute at the Constitutional Court.
He said the police had until May 25 to drop the case, otherwise the pretrial petition would be refiled. (rms)(++++)
