T

he Denpasar Police are searching for a drug convict who has been wrongly released from Kerobokan prison, while the Law and Human Rights Ministry is questioning the prison member of staff who is thought to have made the mistake.

Denpasar Police chief Sr. Comr. Anak Agung Made Sudana said on Thursday that his team was still working on pursuing the inmate, known only by the initials CA.

"We have yet to receive an official report from the prison, but we are working to help to catch him," he said.

CA was wrongly released on May 15, having served two of his nine-year prison term.

Kerobokan prison warden Sudjonggo said a team from the ministry'€™s directorate general for corrections was also checking the case.

"There was an examination of the prison today from the directorate general of corrections," he said.

Sudjonggo said the prison learned of the error after another inmate who was due to be released on the day, and who also carried the initials CA, asked a guard why he had not been released.(+++)
