hile, DJ Steve Aoiki was stealing attention on the main stage, Gorillaz Sound System DJ Set and other leading local DJs were spinning in silence.

The Global Gathering also hosted Silent Disco '€” an event where the audience experienced the music only through headphones.

When the headphones were on, the sound was as clear as an actual stereo sound regardless of position in the arena. Without headphones, one could hear nothing and only saw people dancing crazily despite the silence.

Concertgoers could also change to different channels on each headset. Three separate waves of music were being transmitted to the crowd at the same time and place.

The list of DJs on the silent stage included Karaoke City, Patricia Schuldtz and Tanzel.

Despite the stunning Grammy Award-winning Gorillaz Sound System show, Jakartans paid little attention to Silent Disco. Most came to feel the vibes and shortly left. Only a few partygoers were attracted to stay longer.

Muthe Muthiah, of the audience, said she thought the silent disco was an amazing experience and would like to attend similar events in the future.

Even though DJ Danny Avila was performing with loud speakers, he was thrilled about Silent Disco.

Avila said that as a DJ, he was quite confused at having to listen to two headphones. '€œIt'€™s weird, but cool at the same time,'€ he said.
