Guess what?: Angel Pieters speaks up over award scandal

Kapanlagi.com

Singer Angel Pieters has finally spoken up over a controversy surrounding her recent win at the Indonesian Movie Awards.

Angel, who won the best soundtrack award for the song '€œIndonesia Negeri Kita Bersama'€ (Indonesia is our nation) that was in the movie Dibalik 98 (Behind 98), told kompas.com she was shocked after receiving so many criticisms about her winning.

'€œI was shocked: honestly so sad because there is an uproar in Twitter. People have a bad opinion of my winning,'€ the 17-year-old said in a press conference on Thursday.

After the announcement, other nominees, such as musicians Pongki Barata, Glenn Fredly and Anggun C. Sasmi, reportedly complained that the result was unfair as Angel had not been put on the nomination list.

However, in the press conference, Angel clarified she was nominated in April and secured 73 percent of the votes.

Responding to Angel'€™s comments, Glenn lashed out in anger at RCTI, the TV station that airs the award ceremony, in Twitter for not giving any clarification and for instead hiding behind the artist. Some believed she won because her song was written by Liliana Tanusoedibjo, the wife of Hary Tanusoedibjo, the owner of RCTI.
