Where is that renowned Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi? Is she still mute?

By raising her voice to draw the world'€™s attention to the plight of her dying people from hunger and thirst, the world will listen to her. But the lady remains silent!

I wonder if she is too comfortable with the love and comfort given by the world that she doesn'€™t give anymore.

What the Acehnese are doing is right, but what if the Rohingya people stay in the province for a prolonged time?

It would spark new conflict between local society and them. So, the Indonesia government must be brave in handling them; either move them out or settle them.

These asylum seekers will be in Indonesia for a very long time.  As a result of the world refugee crisis, the UNHCR will be unable to resettle any of these people in another country.

The UNHCR already has a priority list of people for resettlement amounting to many hundreds of thousands, most of whom will never get the opportunity.

Hardly any countries resettle refugees, with nearly all going to the US, Canada and Australia.

God bless you all in Aceh. Thousands are in trouble, persecuted in their own country and you help to take them in and look after them. You are an example to the rest of the world, thank you.

Indonesia said it would help them only for one year and the UN must find other countries to take them within that year.

But if the UN cannot find other countries to take them and they are still in Indonesia a year from now, what will Indonesia do with them then; let them stay or force them to leave?

The treatment of these people is totally inhumane. Please help them and discuss the matter with relevant states.

The Indonesian government should provide an island for them. There are many uninhabited islands. Please come to Indonesia; you can take one of our islands. We are Muslim brothers.

Illegal migrant masterminds are on the run, hunted by Thai police after the discovery of buried migrants on Thai islands.

Vessels whose captains and deckhands have jumped ship have created a dangerous scenario and possible tragedy on the Andaman Sea.

Kind Acehnese fishermen rescued 600 of the migrants. Indonesia could house them on its numerous islands, so could Thailand and Malaysia.

Myanmar needs to be persuaded to act swiftly and do the morally right thing and stop this crisis.

It is up to Myanmar'€™s Buddhist leaders to show compassion in the unfolding drama on the Andaman Sea.

Tant KT

Lots can be said about Myanmar, but one thing should come first: we are our brothers'€™ keepers. Turning back the boats is inhumane and barbaric.
