he State Secretariat is set to give the Jakarta administration an 11.5-hectare plot of land in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, to develop an athletes' village in preparation for the 2018 Asian Games.
Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama said that the decision was made by President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla. The city, Ahok said, would build apartments for athletes on the land.
He said that city-owned real estate developer PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) would be tasked with developing the apartments. The city administration would give Jakpro a capital injection in the revised 2015 budget.
'The facilities will be like the Tambora Rusunawa [low-cost apartments] in West Jakarta. Each unit will be at least 30 square meters wide, and there will be around 8,000 units in total,' Ahok said.
