Greater Jakarta: City gets land for athletes'€™ village

T

he State Secretariat is set to give the Jakarta administration an 11.5-hectare plot of land in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, to develop an athletes'€™ village in preparation for the 2018 Asian Games.

Governor Basuki '€œAhok'€ Tjahaja Purnama said that the decision was made by President Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla. The city, Ahok said, would build apartments for athletes on the land.

He said that city-owned real estate developer PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) would be tasked with developing the apartments. The city administration would give Jakpro a capital injection in the revised 2015 budget.

'€œThe facilities will be like the Tambora Rusunawa [low-cost apartments] in West Jakarta. Each unit will be at least 30 square meters wide, and there will be around 8,000 units in total,'€ Ahok said.
